Michael Thompson @ ISM, September 7-9, 2014

ISM is very pleased to have Michael Thompson, Ph. D. visiting for some very informative workshops. Below is the schedule of events with links for you to sign up if you wish to attend. Parent sessions are open to ISM parents and teachers only. As Dr. Thompson is one of the premier speakers on the topic of adolescent psychology, teachers are strongly encouraged to attend the after-school session for their grade level and may attend both sessions if they wish.

Sunday, Sep 7

  • 2-5pm – 2 sessions for parents: “Best Friends/Worst Enemies” and “The Pressured Child” – ISM to provide child-care during this session – FAT – SIGN UP HERE
  • 5-5:30pm – Wine and Cheese Social with ISM parents – FAT Lobby

Modern Language Workshop with Dr. Lori Langer de Ramirez

On Wednesday, January 23, Dr. Lori Langer de Ramirez met with 50 ISM parents to discuss ways to support their children in language learning. Whether studying a foreign language, maintaining mother tongue, or studying the English language, Lori gave several practical ideas that parents can use with their children to support and encourage their language development. ES Participates in THRASS ESL Workshop

Thirty teachers and teacher assistants from Elementary School attended the two-day training on Teaching Handwriting Reading And Spelling Skills (THRASS) last August 3 and 4. It was facilitated by Denyse Ritchie, Director of The THRASS Institute. Here are some photos from the workshop.

Curriculum Orientation to New Hires

On July 26, 2012, Sam Cook, ISM’s Learning Coordinator, facilitated the curriculum orientation to new hires. He discussed fundamental topics namely ISM’s Key Learning Principles, Schoolwide Priorities, curriculum development plan, and Understanding by Design unit writing framework.
