The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International)

The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International). PGCEi is a part-time, distance learning programme of professional enrichment for educators working in countries other than the UK.

The PGCEi focuses on the improvement of individual teaching practive throught critical reflection and action research. It also enables you to compare teaching approaches in different countries. The course comprises a face-to-face introductory event followed by distance learning and tutor support.

More than 300 students have completed the programme, with the same number currently on course.

The general aim of the PGCEi is to improve practice by building new ideas and strategies which are tested out in your own classrooms. More specifically, the programme aims to improve teaching by:

  • helping you to understand your own education system from an international perspective
  • enabling you to become conversant with the basic assumptions, concepts, and principles of a range of learning theories and to evaluate their usefulness in specific educational situations
  • promoting a deeper understanding of a range of teaching strategies
  • developing expertise in practitioner research
  • making appropriate use of professional and research literature

EARCOS International Schools/Walden Scholarship

In celebration of the relationship Walden University has with EARCOS schools, we are pleased to announce the creation of the Walden Education Certificate Scholarship to recognize exceptional EARCOS member teachers and administrators who are seeking to make a differnece in their schoos and communities. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is May 18, 2012.

This scholarship awards one 50% scholarship to one EARCOS member who becomes a new Walden student and enroll in selected certificate programs in Walden’s Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership.

Melbourne Graduate School of Education

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International Baccalaureate®) DP Stream – Online Study Option

International Baccalaureate® (IB) education programmes promote the development and growth of the whole person (intellectual, personal, emotional and social).

To assist in meeting the needs of busy teachers, the Melbourne Graduate School of Education is commencing online delivery of the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International Baccalaureate® –  Diploma Programme  in April 2012.

This Postgraduate Certificate is available to secondary school teachers who have completed an approved degree, and who are interested in high quality and challenging curricula that encourages critical thinking and intercultural understanding.
